Police say Friday’s deliberate wreck in a suburb east of Orchards was the result of an ongoing family feud.

Just before noon Friday, Justin Fessel, 34, was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV and intentionally rammed a Buick Riviera driven by his brother, Jesse, 28, officials said. Their father and mother, James, 55, and Shari, 51, were also inside the Buick at the time of the crash. Both were transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

Justin Fessel fled the site of the crash at Northeast 73rd Street and 147th Avenue in the Sifton area. Deputies with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office are still actively searching for him and investigating what led to the crash. He faces three counts of first-degree assault and felony hit and run.

Jesse Fessel was arrested Friday and booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of second-degree malicious mischief, stemming from vandalism just prior to the crash. Witnesses saw people smashing out the windows of two vehicles parked down the street before getting in the Buick.

All four family members have a history in Clark County Superior and District courts. Jesse, James and Shari have a history of possessing methamphetamine.

Justin Fessel has a history of possessing controlled substances, including cocaine, amphetamine and heroin. Previously, he was found guilty of criminal trespass, obstruction of a law enforcement officer and unlawful possession of a firearm. Most recently, he was wanted for jumping bail.

In a 2008 letter to the court, Katie Hudson, then-girlfriend of Jesse, said Jesse was “raised by two addict parent [sic] who cared nothing about how the choices they were making would affect him for the rest of his life.”
