Two advocacy groups whose work is tied to the Gifford Pinchot National Forest were among nine grant recipients announced by the National Forest Foundation on Monday.
Pinchot Partners and the Mount Adams Resource Stewards both received a Community Capacity and Land Stewardship grant, designed to assist forest collaboration and community-based organizations, according to the forest foundation. The most recent round of grants were given to nine organizations.
The nine awards totaled $169,487. Each grant was limited to no more than $24,000, according to the forest foundation, a nonprofit group created by Congress.
The Gifford Pinchot National Forest covers 1.3 million acres in Southwest Washington, including the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument.
Other grant recipients included groups who work in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Mount Hood National Forest and Willamette National Forest.
