JUNEAU, Alaska — Washington U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell is headlining two fundraisers in Alaska next month.
Cantwell is scheduled to attend receptions in Anchorage on Aug. 8 and Fairbanks on Aug. 9, to help raise money for the Alaska Democratic party and Alaska’s junior senator, Mark Begich.
Begich, who is in the midst of his first term, faces re-election next year. His announced challengers include Republicans Joe Miller and Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell.
