The Ho’ike and Hawaiian Festival is one of the biggest summer events in Esther Short Park as it brings the cultures and flavors of the Pacific Islands to Vancouver. The event will kick off with the 5K Aloha Fun Run at 8 a.m., and the festival begins at 10 a.m. with hula dancers and Polynesian singers. There will be the Ke Kukui Cultural Corner which will offer traditional games such as`ulu maika (bowling) and konane (checkers). Or, learn to make a lei. Visitors can enjoy island food, arts and crafts vendors and children’s activities.

2. Blueberry a day makes summer OK
Visitors can celebrate the marriage of fruit and griddle during Blueberry Pancake Day at the Cedar Creek Grist Mill. Whole-wheat pancakes will be made with freshly milled flour, combined with fresh blueberries and blueberry syrup. There will also be recipes, whole-wheat flour and directions to local blueberry farms to take home to continue the pancake tradition.

3. Celebrating Camas
The 39th annual Camas Days festival will feature 100 vendors on historic Fourth Avenue, with streets dedicated to children’s activities, live music, local food vendors and a wine and microbrew street. This year’s theme, “Outta This World,” will be incorporated with the Grand Parade which starts at 11 a.m., with the popular bathtub races following at 1 p.m. To end the weekend, the annual Duck Derby starts at 2 p.m. Sunday.
