Officials are asking the public to help identify the body of a man found in the Columbia River near the Interstate 5 bridge.

The recovery was made around 5:45 p.m. Thursday after crews aboard a Tidewater tug and barge spotted the body. The man had apparently been dead for several months before he was found, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.

The man is white and has “Devil Dog” tattooed on his upper left arm, along with several other tattoos. He was was wearing a long-sleeved blue zip-up hooded jacket, black pants and black shoes. He may have been released from the hospital prior to his death, the sheriff’s office said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Rian Hakala with the sheriff’s office at 503-251-2402.
