Yes, it was a baby boy. Quite an event for the folks in the United Kingdom, but it was also a noteworthy day weather wise. The temperature at London’s Heathrow Airport was 92 degrees about the time of delivery. So what’s the big deal? It was the warmest temperature in the U.K. since 2006.
I knew I could work that into my column somehow. No 92-degree high here in Clark County; we managed a much more pleasant high of 81 degrees in Vancouver.
East of the Cascades, both in Washington and Oregon, most locations are experiencing a run of 100-degree days. Yakima had another 100-degree high on Monday, and so did the Tri-Cities area. Hanford was the hot spot with 102 degrees. The heat should hasten the grocery store appearance of those Yakima and Hermiston watermelons soon.
We will warm up a little today and Wednesday but nothing terribly hot. Currently, we have a stable weather pattern that offers something for everyone. If you like hot weather, head east. If you like cooler weather, head west. Staying close to home brings moderate warmth, with highs in the 80s the rest of the week.
