Vancouver police converged on the Harney Heights neighborhood Tuesday afternoon after a man allegedly shot his girlfriend’s father with a BB gun.

Neal Stillwell, 25, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault, said Kim Kapp, spokeswoman for the Vancouver Police Department. The incident occurred just after 4 p.m. at 3822 E. 14th St., an apartment complex at the corner of Brandt Road and East 14th. It was first reported as a weapons disturbance possibly involving a black handgun, but the weapon turned out to involve a BB gun.

The victim, a man, was transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Kapp said.

The dispute was over a relationship involving the victim’s daughter.
