WOODLAND — The Woodland Community Swimming Pool Committee this month finalized its acquisition of the 2.9-acre Lakeside Motel site for $800,000 from sellers Joseph Moore and Jerome Moore.
The property will be combined with an adjacent piece of land donated by Benno and Klazina Dobbe to create a 3.7-acre tract to build a community swimming facility next to Horseshoe Lake Park. The pool is to be operated by the YMCA, which will join with the committee in a fundraising campaign to finance the project.
Ron Kawamoto and Sierk Braam, brokers with NAI Norris Beggs & Simpson’s Vancouver office, negotiated the property sale. Project backers expect to offset most of the acquisition costs and monthly payments by selling another property and by continuing to operate the motel until the pool project is ready to break ground.
