Community Home Health & Hospice has announced a partnership with Sterling Bank to finance construction of a 10-bed care facility expected to break ground later this year in the Salmon Creek area.
Sterling has agreed to finance $5.5 million of the $7.4 million project, according to a written statement issued by Community Home Health & Hospice. Upon its completion, the center will be operated by the nonprofit hospice.
The project’s 6-acre site is at 3100 N.E. 136th Circle, about three blocks east of Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital. Plans for the facility include a 42,000-square-foot center to house existing community-based services and 10 hospice beds, an outdoor memorial garden and a large conference space available for community use.
Its main office in Longview and has an office in Vancouver.
PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center had challenged, then dropped its appeal in August 2012 of the state decision allowing the facility. PeaceHealth had charged the new hospice center would compete with the Ray Hickey Hospice House, near downtown Vancouver, which the medical center owns.
