Local dog owners are looking to raise money to replace Washougal police K-9 “Dingo,” who is retiring after seven years of service.

On Monday, Dingo will attend the Washougal City Council meeting to start off the donation drive for his replacement. DogPaw, a nonprofit that supports dog parks in Washington, hopes to raise $15,000 by Oct.19.

Police K-9 detect narcotics, track down violent suspects, locate lost people and protect citizens and police officers, according to the Washougal Police Department.

Ways to donate:

• Through a PayPal account at clarkdogpaw.org/dingo.

• Stop by any Chase Bank branch and ask for the DogPaw/Dingo savings account.

• Mail a check to DogPaw, 13504 N.E. 84th St. Suite 103, PMB 303 Vancouver, WA 98682-3091.

Donations are tax deductible.
