New border wraps around Northfield

Northfield — The Northfield neighborhood recently replaced most of its worn wooden perimeter fence with a shiny, new vinyl barrier. Neighborhood leaders have discussed replacing the nearly 15-year-old wooden fence for years, but finally got the project under way in mid-March. “We just about squeezed all the life out of (the old fence) we could,” said Terry Conner, Northfield Community Association president. The project cost about $160,000, paid for with homeowner dues that were saved in a reserve fund. Conner said there are 117 houses and 97 condominiums in the neighborhood.
