The United States men’s soccer team put on a show on Tuesday in beating Belize 6-1 at Jeld-Wen Field. But a more spectacular demonstration happened before kickoff, when the American Outlaws unfurled the special red, white and blue tifo at the north end of the stadium.
Robert Cross, president of the Portland chapter of the American Outlaws — one of two major supporter’s groups for the U.S. national soccer teams — said the tifo banners were a combined effort of his group and the 107ist (the Timbers Army community outreach wing).
Cross said that the Portland chapter of the American Outlaws now has about 200 members. As with the Timbers Army, the group is a melting pot of soccer fans.
