Everclear will headline the 2013 Couvapalooza music festival.

The 11-hour festival on Aug. 17 will be held at Clark College. It’s a fundraiser put on by VistaRocks4Charity, LLC for regional music education programs. It features a variety of up-and-coming bands from across the country.

Everclear, which formed in Portland, has sold more than 9 million albums globally. Fronted by Art -Alexakis, the band is a great addition to the festival’s second-year lineup, organizers said.

“I have deep concerns for the health and future of music education,” said Michael Troxler, event manager for Couvapalooza. “In talking with artists and bands, they all felt very strongly about being a part of efforts to ‘give back’ and supporting school programs.”

Couvapalooza also focuses on emerging musical talent from all genres. This year’s show includes performances by Santa Barbara, Calif., rock band Winchester Rebels, Seattle-based alternative country singer Dylan Jakobsen, and pop ‘n’ roll Dallas artist Remington. Local bands Smoochknob, One From Many, Foreign Talks, Seth Myzel and the Battle Ground High School Advanced Jazz Band will also play.
