o Landscape design: 1 to 3 p.m. July 14. Landscape designer Beth Goodnight will discuss proper project preparation. Watch a presentation on sustainable plant selection for the region and hear tips on how to blend beauty and function.

o Living wreaths: 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. July 20. Hands-on class where you will design and build your own sedum wreaths.

o Mini gardening: 1 to 3 p.m. July 21. Join Andrea for a creative small-scale gardening class. The $15 class fee includes a gardening box, soil, fertilizer and, if you choose to use a container, the fee is credited toward your purchase.

Creating and maintaining a bird habitat: 10 a.m. to noon July 13 at the Pacific Park Natural Garden demonstration site, Northeast corner of Pacific Park, Northeast 18th Street and 172nd Avenue. Deborah Kapral of the Backyard Bird Shop will demonstrate different types of feeders and bird seeds and identify the specific birds attracted to each. “Educating Children About Gardening and Nature” exhibit: A poster competition sponsored by WSU Clark County Master Gardeners. The prize-winning exhibits and additional submissions will be on display at the Clark County Fair during the period of Aug. 2-11. Exhibits will be accepted between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Aug. 1 at the Open Class Floriculture Exhibit area. Washington State University Extension Clark County master gardener volunteer training: The 12-week training begins Sept. 4 and continues Wednesdays through Nov. 27 from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Upon completion, new volunteers are expected to complete a 50-hour internship in their first year and serve 35 hours yearly thereafter to maintain certification.
