Summertime patrols between June 21 and July 7 resulted in 111 motorists charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Law enforcement worked extra patrols to target impaired drivers on Clark County’s highways and byways. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington State Patrol and the Battle Ground and Camas police departments participated in the effort.

During this same period last year, 91 intoxicated drivers were arrested, according to the sheriff’s office. Across the state, law enforcement arrested 1,421, compared with 1,800 for 2012.

Money for overtime patrols is provided by the Washington Traffic Safety Commission as part of the Target Zero goal to reduce fatalities and serious injury crashes to zero by 2030.
