Grants aid Rocksolid prevention efforts

Brush Prairie — The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington recently gave $7,500 in grants to the Rocksolid Community Teen Center to help it continue to provide two youth-orientated programs. The charitable foundation awarded $5,000 last month for the center’s “Really Outrageous Concerned Kids” (ROCK) program, which asks students to warn their peers about the dangers of drug abuse and increases awareness about suicide prevention. The “After School Life Altering Program Phase II” program was given $2,500. That program pairs mentors with kids to “counterbalance the many negative influences students encounter as they grow,” according to a press release. The teen center aims to give students in north Clark County a safe place to go after school.
