Vancouver — If this summer still isn’t hot enough for you, try the chili cook-off and firefighter competition in Esther Short Park on July 20.
This is the fifth annual Fire in the Park, hosted by the Vancouver Fire Fighters Union and benefitting Share, which serves the hungry and homeless in Clark County.
This year, there will be a firefighter competition and fire apparatus display, kids zone with Home Depot Kids’ Workshop, pipe and drum bands including High Point and the One of A Kind Drumline — and of course, the chili cook-off. Among the contestants making chili are local restaurateurs and the firefighters of Vancouver Fire Training, Friends of Station 6 and the Camas Fire Department.
The event is free and open to the public, but the chili cook-off is $1 per tasting cup. Buy a cup and you’re eligible to vote in various cook-off categories.
