A Vancouver man was arrested late Friday in Portland after a high-speed pursuit that ended with a crash on Interstate 5 on Hayden Island, police said Saturday.
Phillip Ray Horn, 20, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to elude, driving under the influence, reckless endangerment and reckless driving, according to a bulletin from the Portland Police Bureau.
At 11:51 p.m., a Portland police officer tried to pull over a speeding 1990 Mercedes 190 sedan near Northeast Second Avenue and Broadway. Instead of stopping, the driver got onto I-5 and drove north.
Other officers got ahead of the pursuit and deployed spike strips on Hayden Island, the bulletin said. The Mercedes hit the strips, spun out and struck the median.
