A 15-year-old driver and his two passengers ran across Interstate 5 after crashing a Ford Explorer Thursday afternoon.
Around 2:20 p.m. the Explorer was northbound on I-5 at East 39th Street when the driver lost control. The Explored rolled once and hit the left jersey barrier, coming to rest upright, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Steve Schatzel. The three occupants, all 15-year-old boys, ran across the freeway into Leverich Park.
Police located all three teens inside the park. One of the passengers was arrested for allegedly carrying drug paraphernalia, some type of smoking pipe, Schatzel said.
The driver, who was complaining of neck injuries, was transported to a local hospital. He’s being referred to the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving while suspended. He was also cited for having no valid driver’s license.
