Megan Sharp scored nine points in the decisive third quarter as the visiting Panthers kept alive their chance to finish second in the 2A Greater St. Helens League.
Hockinson (8-11, 4-3) can still clinch second place by beating fifth-place Ridgefield on Monday, but Thursday’s result kept Washougal (10-9, 3-4) within striking distance. The Panthers host fourth-place R.A. Long to close out the regular season on Monday.
The Hawks made only eight field goals — just two in the second half. A 15-2 third-quarter advantage pushed the Panthers to a 12-point lead.
“They played good defense, and they shot the ball better than we did,” Hockinson coach Chad Hamberg said. “We took good shots. They just didn’t drop.”
