Joey Bomers,Hudson’s Bay wrestling
Joey Bomers of Hudson’s Bay wrestling was voted The Columbian’s high school athlete of the week for the week of Jan. 21-26 in a vote by fans on Facebook.
Bomers collected 39 percent of the 267 votes cast to beat out Prairie girls basketball player Megan Lindsley, who had 30 percent.
Bomers won two matches by pins — one at 195 pounds, one at 220 pounds — in a pair of league duals as Bay earned a share of the 3A Greater St. Helens League title.
The other nominees were Camas bowler Porsche Chartrand, Prairie swimmer Jaron Hamlik and Evergreen boys basketball player Robert Franks.
