Well, what do you know. As I sit here typing my column, the house is shaking, rattling and rolling. Yep, a small earthquake about 3.5 occurred near Amboy, immediately becoming the only highlight to a rather boring weather day.
Gray skies, fog, low clouds and drizzle made for a depressing day of sorts. But there is sunshine on the horizon, so hold fast. Forecast charts show an end to the clouds and rain for a couple of days on Friday and Saturday and highs getting up to 50 degrees or higher depending if we get any morning fog. Then back to more clouds on Sunday and eventually rain. Next week looks wet off and on.
Amazing how much rain fell the past four days or so — almost constant in most locations. Still, as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, Vancouver was still close to two inches below average for the month.
Weather observers in the higher elevations of our foothills reported to me that they had more than three inches of rain this week, almost as much as Vancouver has had all month. It will be fun to see those rainfall reports from around the region when they come in. I will share those with you as always in a week or so.
