Battle Ground — Though he said his five years leading Firm Foundation Christian School have been wonderful, Administrator Scott Grove recently announced his plan to retire at the end of this school year. Grove has been an educator for 39 years, 30 of which were in Battle Ground Public Schools. He joined Firm Foundation in 2008 after taking a year off from education due to a bout with cancer. After a related surgery, Grove said he was drawn back into the field, finding his place at Firm Foundation. He said he is now cancer-free. In his retirement, Grove plans to travel with his wife, Debbie, and spend more time with their 12 grandchildren. During his time at the pre-K-12 school, he said he’s proud of the entire staff’s efforts to grow enrollment by 150 students, work through a lengthy international accreditation process and implement a new high school program. “But the main thing is, students are academically achieving high scores on standardized tests and building strong Christian character,” Grove wrote in an email. A national search is under way for a new administrator, with interviews planned for spring.
