Skyview swimmers win Southwest Washington Invitational title

Prairie’s Jaron Hamlik, Camas Kasey Calwell and Mountain View’s Chris Xue won two events each, but it was the Skyview Storm who raced to the team title at the Southwest Washington Invitational boys swimming meet Saturday in Longview.

Skyview scored 487 points to easily outdistance Mountain View (324). Camas was third (313.5) and Hockinson was fourth (283).

Hamlik posted Class 3A state qualifying times in winning the 200 individual medley in 2 minutes, 0.35 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 54.66 seconds.

Xue won the 50 freestyle in a state-qualifying time of 22.59 seconds. Runner-up Alexander Suk of Mountain View also finished under the state standard (22.68).

Xue also won the 100 butterfly in 56.47 seconds. Suk also won the 100 freestyle in a state-qualifying time in 49.34 seconds.

Calwell won the 500 freestyle in a 4A state-qualifying time of 4:57.60, and runner-up Eric Bugna of Skyview also qualified for state in 5:01.39.

Calwell also won the 100 breaststroke in a state-qualifying time of 1:03.27.
