Talking Points: NFL cheerleader as high school teacher? What could go wrong?

Here at Talking Points, we don’t like to judge others.

So we will reserve comment on Sarah Jones, the former Bengals cheerleader and a high school English teacher who was convicted of having sex with one of her underaged students. And we won’t pass judgment on her impending court case against a website that posted lewd comments about her.

But we would like to comment on how inherently unfair it is that our ninth-grade English teacher was a crazy, old disciplinary who would whack your thumbs with a ruler if you so much as thought about splitting an infinitive.

If we had an NFL cheerleader as an English teacher, we would have spent more time paying attention in class, and that would have inspired us to more eagerly become experts of the written word.

Ow! My thumbs!!

Now that we think about it, it must have been odd having a cheerleader as an English teacher.

“OK class, today we will work on spelling. Our first word in ‘Salacious.’ Give me an S! Give me an A! Give me an L! …… “
