Try This: Shimmy & Shakespeare

America’s Largest Antique and Collectible Shows, hosted by Palmer/Wirfs & Associates, will feature more than 400 booths with a variety of vintage and unusual treasures. Items range from slot machines, books, furniture, movie and pop culture memorabilia to glassware and costume jewelry. The Clark County Historical Museum exhibit, “The Road to Equality,” showcases women from the Pacific Northwest who played a role in the women’s suffrage movement. Expert appraisers will be on hand to evaluate items for $5.

When: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Where: Exhibition Hall B-C, Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds, 17402 N.E. Delfel Road, Ridgefield.

Admission: $6 for both days, $6 for parking.

2. Comedic love on the high seas

The Union High School Theatre Players present “Anything Goes,” the Cole Porter musical set aboard the cruise ship SS America. The comedy follows Billy Crocker as he sneaks aboard to follow his love, heiress Hope Harcourt, who is set to marry a British nobleman. Billy is aided in his quest to win Hope’s heart by nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and gangster Moonface Martin.

When: 2 and 7 p.m. today.

Where: Union High School Performing Arts Building, 6201 N.W. Friberg-Strunk St., Camas.

3. Shimmy Shake and Share

Belly-dance Troupe Raks el Sehr will host the seventh annual Shimmy Shake and Share International Dance Show and Dessert. Proceeds benefit the Winter Hospitality Outreach, which aids the area’s homeless. Dance styles will include classical Indian, Bollywood, Middle Eastern, Hawaiian and Tahitian. There will also be a belly-dance showcase from 1 to 5 p.m. for those interested in learn more about the dance style. it will be followed by the variety dance show and dessert from 6 to 8 p.m.

When: 1-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. tonight.

Where: St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1309 Franklin St., Vancouver.

Admission: $5 for belly-dance showcase, $10 for dance show and dessert.

4. The symphony of Shakespeare

Rethink the symphony and Shakespeare during the world-premiere concert “All Hamlet.” Vancouver Symphony Orchestra combines its musical skills with the theater. Led by conductor Salvador Brotons, the symphony will perform music from four versions of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” by Liszt, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich and Walton. The text from the play will be performed by Portland native and Broadway actor Kirk Mouser, with lighting and props creating a multimedia performance.

When: 3 p.m. today and 7 p.m. Sunday.

5. Wahlberg, Crowe spar in ‘Broken City’

When New York’s powerful Mayor Nicolas Hostetler (Russell Crowe) calls upon ex-cop Billy Taggart (Mark Wahlberg) for a special assignment, Billy sees it as a chance for redemption. Hostetler believes his wife, Cathleen (Catherine Zeta-Jones), is having an affair, which could damage his chances at re-election. But Billy’s investigation quickly spirals into a quest for revenge. “Broken City” is rated R.
