$2,410 raised for Burton medical fund

Fircrest — A Jan. 7 Burgerville fundraiser brought in nearly $410 to aid Tyler Burton and his family as they deal with mounting hospital and rehabilitation costs. Burton, 21, continues to recover at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver from complications that arose after he was punched and knocked to the ground Oct. 28 in Chico, Calif. At first, doctors feared the 2010 Mountain View High School graduate wouldn’t survive. But in early December, he started regaining control of parts of his body and began talking. The Burgerville at 11704 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd. doubled the $205 raised at the Jan. 7 fundraiser. The company also matched a $1,000 donation dropped off at a Portland Burgerville by an anonymous man. Burton attends Shasta College in Redding, Calif. His alleged assailant, 20-year-old Andres Rodriguez, was arrested and pleaded not guilty to a felony battery charge. “The stories of Tyler are spreading so far, and he is such a strong testimony to God’s greatness,” Burton’s father, Roger, wrote Jan. 8 on the “Praying For Tyler Burton” Facebook page.
