Boys basketball: Kalama 71, La Center 54

The visiting Chinooks started fast and remained unbeaten in the Class 1A Trico League.

Kalama outscored La Center 28-10 in the first quarter, essentially deciding the game. Four Chinooks (12-2, 12-0) scored in double figures, and another had nine points. Jared Shagool led the way with 20 points.

For La Center (7-7, 6-6), Matt Bratten had 16 points and AJ Myers scored 10.

“They’re just so long and lanky they can shoot over the top of you at times,” La Center coach Jon Schroeder said of Kalama. “I thought our guys player pretty well overall. Kalama is good.”
