Girls basketball: Columbia River 53, Fort Vancouver 48

Morgan Anthony’s big game helped the visiting Chieftains win a league game for the first time in two seasons.

Anthony had 24 points and 16 rebounds as Columbia River won a league game for the first time since the middle of the 2010-11 season. She made 12 of 17 free throws helping River go 20 for 28 from the line, a crucial part of the game according to Chieftains coach Carl Click.

Mar’Shay Moore scored 30 points for the Trappers, but Fort Vancouver struggled to score down the stretch.

The Trappers led by seven early in the second half, and by one point entering the fourth quarter.

Sydney Moore gave the Chieftains the lead for the last time with about three minutes left with a steal and a bucket followed by two free throws on the next River possession.
