A Portland woman was taken to an area hospital after a commercial truck crashed into her car on Interstate 5 northbound in Vancouver early Wednesday morning.

William Getchell, 54, of Granite Falls was driving a Freightliner tractor without a trailer alongside a 2000 Toyota Celica driven by Rhegina Miguel, 30, of Portland, according to a bulletin from the Washington State Patrol.

Getchell changed lanes, turning into the Celica, which caused the car to spin and crash into the truck before coming to rest along the left shoulder just before 7 a.m., the WSP bulletin said.

Miguel was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for possible injuries.

Getchell was not injured, and was able to drive the truck from the scene. The WSP cited Getchell for making an unsafe lane change, the bulletin said.
