Kailynn Rae hit a clinching 3-pointer with nine seconds left for visiting Kelso in a nonleague game at Hockinson.
Trailing by 10 points at halftime, the Hawks were within two as time wound down. With the shot clock expiring, Rae hit the shot that prevented Hockinson from having a chance to tie or win the game at the end.
Katelyn McGuire had 22 points, four blocked shots and six rebounds for Hockinson. Sydnie Cole scored 11 poinys and Kaylee Hartloo had two steals and four rebounds.
For Kelso, Rae finished with 13 points and Jamilee Iddings scored 10.
“It’s probably the best game we’ve played all season,” Hockinson coach Chad Hamberg said, praising his team’s focus. “That’s an encouraging sign.”
