What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:
1
Remember baby-faced Sebastian Telfair when the Portland Trail Blazers selected him out of high school with the 13th pick in the 2004 NBA draft? Seems wild to think that Telfair — 27 years old and still with the baby face — is now a journeyman.
On Friday, Telfair arrived in Toronto to join his seventh team in 10 years. The one-time high school phenom may not have lived up to the overblown hype, but he has made a career as a reliable backup — and that’s more than a lot of players who couldn’t survive this league can say.
Before the trade to Toronto, Telfair averaged 6.0 points and 2.5 assists in 46 games in the Phoenix Suns’ rotation.
“I think when I came into the league, I just winged it,” Telfair said during a recent visit back to Portland. “I just came and did what was asked of me and didn’t have a real plan.”
“It took me some years to realize … how certain guys will be in the league for 15 years and a guy in this league with a lot more talent will last for four years. So, it depends on how you carry yourself and the perception of what people have of you.”

Steven Jackson just might run right out of St. Louis.
Jackson, a former Oregon State running back, has spent his entire nine-year NFL career with the St. Louis Rams. However, according to reports, Jackson is considering voiding the final year of his contract.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Friday that the Rams and Jackson’s agent will discuss the matter at the NFL Combine.
Jackson, who rushed for 1,042 yards and four touchdowns last year, has until March 12 to make the decision.
That would be big news for the Rams. Despite toiling in relative obscurity throughout his career because his team has been awful, Jackson is — by far — the leading rusher in franchise history.
