A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries when she was struck by a pickup truck at Main Street and East 15th Street in Vancouver Friday morning.

The woman was walking west in the crosswalk on 15th Street and had a “Walk” signal when she was struck by a pickup making a left turn from Main Street, said Kim Kapp, spokeswoman for the Vancouver Police Department.

At 11:21 a.m. Vancouver police and firefighters were dispatched to the intersection.

The woman was quickly transported by ambulance to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center as a trauma patient, said Kevin Stromberg, firefighter-paramedic for the Vancouver Fire Department.

The names of the driver and the pedestrian were not released. The driver was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, Kapp said.

The Vancouver Police Department is investigating this accident.
