In its continuing drive toward the NWAACC playoffs, the Clark College women’s basketball team defeated Centralia 64-57 Wednesday.

Clark (14-11, 12-3) rallied from a one-point halftime deficit against the first-place Trailblazers, building a 17-point lead in the second half and then holding on for the victory.

“It was just a great team effort,” coach Al Aldridge said. “We played together really well, and without Nikki Bond, who is out with a knee injury.

“We didn’t shoot the ball well, but we’re finding ways to win.”

Dominique Johnson scored the first eight points of the second half as the Penguins took command. Toni Doroha finished 8 of 8 from the line, including six attempts late in the game.

Clark, which has won 7 of 8, is one game behind Centralia (20-5, 13-2) in the West Division with one game remaining and has clinched a spot in the NWAACC tournament.
