Support in wake of Crestline fire keeps pouring in

Cascade Park — The Vancouver-area community — from businesses to individuals — continues to support Evergreen Public Schools after Crestline Elementary burned down this month, displacing more than 500 students. • Umpqua Bank is contributing $2,500 to purchase books. It is accepting donations of school supplies at its Clark County locations. A donation account was also created at its downtown location, 1400 Washington St.

• Fifth-graders at Vancouver’s Peter S. Ogden Elementary held a “Quarters for Crestline” fundraiser. Students brought in quarters to buy paper schoolhouses to decorate and display at their school. The kids raised $329.

• Camas’ Furuno USA donated 360 binders and 144 backpacks. Money from Furuno employees was used to buy the bags. The company also gave $500.

• Vancouver’s Share charity delivered 38 food packs to Crestline students in the Backpack Program. Share volunteers also dropped off several bags of school supplies.

• Vancouver Firefighters Union IAFF Local 452 donated $5,000 to the Evergreen School District Foundation.

• Wells Fargo Bank is donating $5,000 to the Evergreen School District Foundation.

• Burgerville raised nearly $6,835 from donation drives at its local restaurants. It also collected enough school supplies from its customers to fill two SUVs.

• Students at Cornerstone Christian School in Vancouver donated a carload of supplies, including paper, crayons and backpacks. A Feb. 15 donation assembly also gathered about 300 books.
