Rain, some snow expected this week

With colder weather settling in, residents at higher elevations in Clark County could see snow toward the end of the week.

A series of storms will bring rain and mountain snow to Southwest Washington and Northwest Oregon, according to the National Weather Service in Portland.

Snow levels are at 2,000 to 3,000 feet in the Cascades and the Oregon Coast ranges now, said meteorologist Clinton Rockey. During the weekend, however, Rockey said those levels could plunge to 1,000 feet.

The strongest storm of the week is expected to hit Friday night, with high winds forecast.

In Vancouver, the chance of rain climbs to 100 percent by Friday.

“Sunshine will be in short supply the next couple of days,” Rockey said.
