Michael Jordan hits the big 5-0 today — a fact we were constantly reminded of constantly on ESPN all last week.
Jordan, now the owner of the floundering Charlotte Bobcats, may be middle age but he can still play the game. Case in point, recently Jordan beat the Bobcats’ top draft pick Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
The 19-year-old rookie admitted to reporters at the NBA All-Star festivities in Houston that he lost to his elder in a game of one-on-one.
From USA Today: “It was hard for me,” Kidd-Gilchrist said. “I lost. He’s the greatest that ever played the game.”
So, Jordan still has game. Maybe he wasn’t simply idly speaking when he told ESPN’s Wright Thompson in a revealing interview: “Man, I wish I was playing right now. I would give up everything now to go back and play the game of basketball.”

The All-Star weekend continued to be a big showcase for Portland Trail Blazers rookie Damian Lillard.
On Saturday night, Lillard won the Skills Challenge by posting a final round score of 29.8 seconds. Lillard, who on Friday participated in the Rising Stars Challenge for first and second-year players, topped a field that included 2013 All-Stars Jrue Holiday and Tony Parker.
Lillard becomes the second rookie to win the event, joining Derrick Rose who took a break from his 2008-2009 Rookie of the Year campaign to show off his skills.
