What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

NASCAR gets under way tonight with an exhibition race formerly known as the Bud Shootout.

The race now known as the Sprint Unlimited lets fans vote on how the race will proceed.

Fans have already voted on the length of the race’s three segments: 30 laps, 25 laps and 20 laps.

“If you give the drivers a gas pedal, brake pedal and steering wheel, we don’t care and we are going. We will have fun no matter what,” said Clark County native Greg Biffle, driver of the No. 16 car, about the length of the final segment.

Fan votes will determine the starting grid, the kind of pit stops the drivers will take and even which drivers won’t be racing in the third segment.

Fans can vote on NASCAR’s new official mobile app — NASCAR Mobile ’13 — or at NASCAR.com/SprintUnlimited.
