Cherita Daugherty finished with 11 points for the Prairie girls basketball team on Friday night. But she could credit most of those points to easy baskets thanks to great passes from Cori Woodward.

And Daugherty wasn’t alone. Woodward was wheeling and dealing passes all night, leading the Falcons to a 66-33 victory over Bonney Lake.

“Cori is just amazing with some of her passes,” Prairie coach Mike Smith said. “She probably could be scoring a lot more points, but she’s happy with making those passes.”

Woodward finished 14 points herself as the Falcons assured themselves of a trip to the Class 3A regionals.

Prairie will face Enumclaw Saturday in the 3A bi-district semifinal. The game is at 4:15 p.m. at Franklin Pierce High in Tacoma.

Woodward had almost as many points (eight) in the first half as Bonney Lake’s top scorer — Mckenzie Voellger (10).

However, Voellger was the only Bonney Lake player to score in the first half, while the Falcons piled on another 25 points onto Woodward’s total for a 33-10 halftime lead.

The Prairie girls have had an odd schedule. After finishing league play on Jan. 30, they took nine days off before playing the 3A district title game on Feb. 8. After another week without a game, Smith said the Falcons were ready to go on Friday.

“You’d think they’d be flat, but our girls were ready to get after it right from the start,” Smith said. “And now we have games on back-to-back nights. But it was nice to see the energy by our team tonight.”

Aislinn Konig added 13 points, Nicole Goecke 12 and Megan Lindsley added eight.

If the Falcons win again Saturday, a matchup against second-ranked Wilson could await them Monday.
