CAMAS — East County Fire & Rescue has opened registration for the Community Emergency Response Team program on disaster preparedness in April. Participants will be taught disaster-response skills such as small-fire suppression, basic search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations. Through the training, people can helps others in their neighborhood before emergency responders arrive, according to a bulletin from East County Fire & Rescue. The agency has provided CERT training for about 10 years.
