Clark County sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help in solving a hit-and-run crash that injured two teenage girls.
The crash reportedly happened just after midnight on Feb. 3, when LaKell Munger, 16, was driving a red Honda Civic in the Brush Prairie area. As she was turning north on Northeast 137th from Northeast 159th Street when a red Jeep Grand Cherokee struck her vehicle from behind, recounts LaKell’s mother Karen Munger.
The crash sent the Civic into a spin before it crashed into a fire hydrant, she said.
LaKell Munger suffered a minor concussion and some bumps and bruises and her passenger Ruchelle Shamp, 16, required stitches, Karen Munger said.
“These girls are so lucky that the injuries sustained were not way worse, but this driver had no way of knowing this and left two teenagers bleeding in the road in the middle of the night and drove away,” Karen Munger said.
Deputies say the Jeep, which was made between 1999 and 2004, may contain the letter Z and numbers 301 on its possibly out-of-state license plate. The vehicle will have significant front-end damage including the grill, bumper and headlights area, deputies said.
She is offering $350 for anyone who has a tip that leads to identifying the person responsible.
