Locals land on WWU honor roll

Two Camas students were named to Western Washington University’s honor roll.

To qualify, students must complete at least 14 credit hours and be in the top 10 percent of their class.

Students include Danielle Colwell and Evan Miller.

WWU names graduates

The following local students have earned degrees from Western Washington University.

Camas: Tyler Atkinson, bachelor of arts in business administration and operations management; Ashley Trinh, bachelor of arts in psychology; and Elizabeth Uelmen-Johnston, bachelor of science in kinesiology.

Washougal: Rachael Hoover, bachelor of arts in education, language literature and cultural studies.

Head Start programs available

Educational Opportunities for Children and Families is available at no cost to eligible families for children from birth to 5 years old.

There are full- and half-time options, as well as childcare and pregnancy services.

Locations are both home-based and center-based across Clark County. Transportation is not provided.

Plus America pageant comes to Camas

The 2013 Northwest Plus America Pageant will come to Vancouver and Camas this weekend.

Tickets range from $20 to $75.

Thirty young women from Oregon and Washington will be competing.

There will be a red carpet event Friday at Big Al’s Vancouver, 16615 S.E. 18th St., followed by a pink pajama party, talent competition and pageant on Saturday and Sunday at Union High School, 6201 N.W. Friberg St.

Free preschool screening offered

Free screenings for children ages 3 to 5 will be offered to parents residing in the Camas School District boundary on Wednesday, Feb. 20.

The screening tests children in hearing, vision, speech, concept and motor development.

Screenings typically last for one hour. Results are confidential and discussed with parents only.

Call the Special Services Department at 833-5570 for an appointment.

Wourms earns dean’s list honors

Lindsay Wourms has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2012 semester at University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif.

To be named to the list, students must earn at least a 3.5 GPA and take 12 graded credits.

Linfield releases fall dean’s list

Margaret Loghry has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2012 semester at Linfield College in McMinnville.

To be named to the list, students must be in the top 10 percent of their class and take 12 graded credits.
