Wyatt Yearout made a school record eight 3-pointers but they were not enough to keep the Hawks from losing a first-round Class 2A district tournament game in Olympia.

“I think (Capital) was just a little bit stronger and a little bit faster than we were, and it showed over time,” Hockinson coach Matt Gruhler said. “We got within one early in the fourth quarter. But then they hit a big 3-pointer, and we couldn’t get much closer.”

Yearout finished with 26 points and five rebounds, after making 8 of 15 3-point attempts. He extended his school record for 3-pointers in a season and now has 56.

Hockinson will face Centralia at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Chehalis in the first of three loser-out games the Hawks must win to reach the state regionals.
