A 26-year-old man was sentenced Thursday to 20 months in prison for having more than two kilograms of methamphetamine in his Vancouver apartment.
Hugo Alberto Urbina-Garcia pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and first-degree identity theft.
He will receive credit for 55 days already served in Clark County Jail.
He was arrested Dec. 14 after the Clark County Drug Task Force received information from the Portland Police Bureau that a resident at the Evergreen Ridge Apartments on Northeast 17th Avenue in Minnehaha might be involved in drug trafficking, according to court documents.
Deputy Prosecutor Rachael Probstfeld said in December that the FBI was investigating whether Urbina-Garcia might be part of a drug ring that moves large quantities of drugs on airliners. An FBI spokeswoman said the agency doesn’t comment on pending investigations.
Urbina-Garcia told police he was storing the drugs for someone else and planned to package the methamphetamine for sale before returning it to its owner.
