BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — Marquan Botley scored 17 points and Justin Raffington added 15 with 11 rebounds as Florida Atlantic rang in the new year with a ringing 81-47 defeat of NAIA Warner on Wednesday.
Four starters hit double-figure scoring for the Owls (4-10), who shot 52.7 percent from the field (29 of 55). FAU crushed the smaller Royals (8-6) on rebounds with a school-record 61 to 24.
Fredrick Conner was the lone Warner player to reach double figures with 21 points on 5-for-17 shooting. The Royals hit just 22 percent from the field at 13 of 59, and notched just four assists.
Pablo Bertone scored 14 points for FAU with Javier Lacunza adding 11. Bertone scored the first five points for the Owls with a 3-pointer and layup. Lacunza followed with a 3-pointer to launch a 16-0 run that put the game out of reach. Raffington’s double-double was his third this season.
