Happy New Year’s Eve! Not much change is in the forecast for us. Perhaps some light rain or showers on Thursday and a few inches of mountain snow, but that system is already appearing to weaken, so we won’t get much of out that one. Then back to high pressure for the weekend. As of this writing we are still in an air stagnation advisory, but with a little offshore of air later in the week that may be lifted for Clark County, at least.
We will sit here in the winter doldrums for some time unless computer forecast models come together on giving us an arctic outbreak and some snow. As I mentioned here many times lately, it comes and goes. Stay tuned, as usual.
OK, I can’t resist this weather joke passed along to me. “What kind of pants do clouds wear? The answer is Thunderwear!”
Moving right along, our rainfall for December is going to be way below the average for the month. As of 5 p.m. Monday it was 1.51 inches, nearly five inches below average. That is a little more than the 1.12 inches recorded in October, which was also way below average. The precipitation is way upside down, with more rain in September and March. Usually November and December are the wettest months.
