Boy Scouts of America of the Columbia Gorge and Fort Vancouver Districts will pick up coats and Christmas trees.

Scouts will visit neighborhoods in Camas, Washougal, Battle Ground and Vancouver Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.

Residents who would like to recycle their Christmas trees should remove the stand, lights and ornaments and place the trees at the curb by 8 a.m.

Scouts will accept donations for their efforts. The recommended donation in $7 per tree.

The trees will be recycled through donated time and/or services from McFarlane’s Bark, 8806 N.E. 117th Ave., Vancouver; the City of Camas Operations Center, 1620 S.E. Eighth Ave.; West Van Materials Recovery Center, 6601 N.W. Old Lower River Road, Vancouver; Clark Public Utilities, 8600 N.E. 117th Ave. and 1200 Fort Vancouver Way, Vancouver; and Waste Connections, 4020 S. Grant St., Washougal.

The Scouts will also collect new or gently used coats, which will be taken to Friends of the Carpenter to be cleaned and distributed. In the past, coats have been distributed through the Council for the Homeless, Open House Ministry, Share and the Rotary Project “Coats for Kids.”

Residents who would like to contribute should place any coats clearly marked for the Scout Coat Drive on their porch.
