Browns looking for head coach _ again

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Browns are ending the year the same way they began 2013 — looking for a coach.

Cleveland’s search to replace Rob Chudzinski, fired after just one season, will gain momentum this week when the Browns interview New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.

The Browns asked the Patriots for permission on Monday to speak with McDaniels. New England has a bye in the AFC playoffs this week, giving the Browns a chance to meet with the former Denver head coach. The 37-year-old McDaniels, an Ohio native, has a strong relationship with Browns general manager Michael Lombardi.

Quinn is available this week because the Seahawks’ playoff game is Jan. 11. Seattle coach Pete Carroll said Quinn is “really well equipped” to become a head coach.

Chudzinski was fired Sunday night after the Browns finished 4-12 following a loss at Pittsburgh.
