BEIJING (AP) — Second-seeded Sara Errani and third-seeded Klara Zakopalova advanced to the second round of the Shenzhen Open on Monday.
Errani beat Chinese wildcard Zheng Saisai 6-0, 3-6, 7-6 (3), and Zakopalova defeated 17-year-old Donna Vekic of Croatia 6-3, 7-5.
Also, Bojana Jovanovski of Serbia, a quarterfinalist last year, lost to German qualifier Anna-Lena Friedsam 6-1, 7-5, Vania King beat Petra Martic 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 and Zheng Jie defeated Shahar Peer 6-0, 6-3.
Top-seeded Li Na was scheduled to play Vera Zvonareva on Tuesday. Li won the inaugural Shenzhen Open title in January.
