CLARKSVILE, Tenn. (AP) — Travis Betran scored 24 points, including 6 of 9 from beyond the arc in helping Austin Peay get past Dalton State 93-57 on Monday night.
Zavion Williams helped out with 17 points and Will Triggs added 12 for Austin Peay who opens their Ohio Valley Conference schedule on Thursday against Tennessee-Martin.
Austin Peay (6-8) broke out to an 11-0 lead against NAIA member Dalton State and stretched that first half margin to a 41-24 tally at the break. The Governors worked on that lead into the second half and sported a 41 point advantage, 93-52, on a Fred Garmon layup with 2:21 remaining in the game.
Demitrice Jacobs scored 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for the Roadrunner while Preston Earle added 15 points in their losing effort.
Dalton State shot only 30 percent from the field while Austin Peay was on fire, hitting 70 percent of their shots.
